What Kind of a Computer should I Buy for School?

Many students might be wondering what the best kind of computer they should purchase for school. Now most people have a budget on the computer that they want to buy, and to try to stay within that budget you might need to compensate on the different features that you will get. Your choice of a school computer will also depend heavily on whether you are in high school, middle school and so on, or if you are about to go to college and you need a mobile computer.

First let's consider the high school student who wants to buy a computer to do homework assignments and some research on the Internet. The best choice for a high school student would be to purchase a desktop computer, which must remain at home. However, since high school students usually do their homework when they get home from school, this will not be a problem. There are many different models of computers that you can choose from, and depending on whether or not the computer will be used for entertainment as well as work, you can find a fairly inexpensive deal on desktop computers. You might consider such places as Dell Computers, which create a custom computer the way you want it and ships it to your home. They have many inexpensive desktops for home users that would be perfect for the student. You might also want to look at Apple Computers since they have models for educational purposes that are quite inexpensive and would suit a student's needs easily.

Next we look at notebook computers, for students who are entering college or university. Some students might wonder if they really need a laptop computer when they start college or if they can just bring their desktop with them. The reality is that some people can survive using only a desktop computer, but as time progresses students will find out that with the constant moving in and out of different dormitories and apartments that a laptop is much more convenient. Of course there are some disadvantages to laptop or notebook computers: they are more expensive, they are slightly slower and their batteries do not last more than three years. Now most students will chose to bring their laptops to class in order to take notes, record the lectures or read the course slides while the professor explains different concepts. It may be the case that the notebook you chose is too heavy to carry around the entire day, from class to class. But the added benefit of being able to wireless check e-mail, chat, look up data on the Internet and complete assignments during your lunch break will outweigh (no pun intended!) the burden of carrying a laptop.

For those students looking for notebook computers, look at the low end notebooks on Dell and Apple. You will surely find a computer that fits your budget, no matter if you will be using your new toy for homework or for entertainment!
